What is wrong with my ear piercing?

I had my ear lobes double pierced in December, and I keep them clean. Once I was allowed to take them out, I replaced them with a pair of rhinestone studs (I was using 24 karat gold ones, these were just sterling silver, which isn't really silver at all if you ask me). I had no problems changing them.

Just a few days ago, I bought a pair of these faux pearl earrings, and put them in. The hole on my right side wasn't affected by the new earrings, but the hole on my left swelled up and turned red. I know it's not infected because the stuff that came out was white, but if I'm wrong please correct me. I took out the earring and cleaned it, and when I tried to put the earring back in, it wouldn't go all the way. It's like the back of the piercing is closed up, but the front has no problems.

All the ear piercing care guides I read don't say anything about this, so what do I do? Or more specifically, what is wrong? Will I need to get it re-pierced?

The same thing that you've described happened to me a few weeks ago. Felt like a lump wrong the hole, took my earring out and sort of a White puss came out. Tried to put it back in, didn't go, so I forced it. Felt really sore after. I thought it was infected. But I'd leave it out and let it heal itself, keeping it clean then see about getting it repeirced.
