Just curious when Deenie (natalie) has a nervous breakdown, after Bud tries to have sex with her and she runs to the waterfalls and swims, and is taken to a hospital, is she having a breakdown,
depression, or is this case of madness due to not having sex?

yes, i saw the movie many years ago and loved it also.
i believe deenie had a breakdown due to the repression imposed upon her by her father. she had the natural desires for sex with the one she loved but felt it was evil (because of the influence of her father) and could not live with that so she retreated into her self.
