Storyline

August: Osage County Broadway is based on the lives of the Westons. Beverly Weston walks out on his family and leaves his family in a lurch. His three daughters and their respective husbands/boyfriends return home to support their mother Violet Weston. Violet Weston has had a very hard life and is also suffering from mouth cancer.

The eldest daughter Barbara has a lot of personal problems herself with a failing marriage and a daughter who is getting wayward. The other sisters have problems as well. Violet does not spare anybody from her scathing tongue and has been played to perfection by Deanna Dunagan. The story has been presented in such fashion that the audience end up gasping in surprise at times. The three act play has been punctured with tart one liners and Violet is an expert in making her daughter miserable by picking on their weaknesses. The vile mouth seems to be a trait that runs in Violet's family, as her sister is no less mean with her son. Violet and Barbara have been portrayed extremely well and have won praise from critics as well.

August: Osage County Broadway has an excellent cast including Tracy Letts's father Dennis Letts, who plays the role of the retired academic. Ian Barford plays the brow-beaten Little Charles, and Kimberly Guerrero plays the Indian house keeper Johnna Monevata. Francis Guinan is Charlie Aiken, who is Mattie Fae Aiken's husband. Rondi Reed plays Mattie Aiken. Brian Kerwin plays Steve Heidebrecht and Madeleine Martin plays Jean Fordham. Mariann Mayberry is Karen Weston and Sally Murphy plays Ivy Weston. Jeff Perry is Bill Fordham and Troy West plays Sheriff Deon Gilbeau.
